Why are nursery rhymes ociated with scary situations in movies?

In almost every scary movie or t.v. show, you will hear young children singing nursery rhymes (like Ring Around the Rosie and Rock a Bye Baby, ect.) I know I'm not the only one that has noticed this, and I'm wondering why people ociate nursery rhymes with scary movies/shows.
