Evolution vs Creationism: man evolving from apes?

A visit to the zoo confirms that man shares many characteristics with the primates, especially the apes. Evolutionists are quick to point out these uncanny similarities. They also delight in the fact that we share 98% of our DNA with chimpanzees. This, they say, is clear proof that we had a common ancestor. How would you refute this?
