How does this sound, (the paragraph below) as an opening paragraph for a novel? What do you like or dislike?
The funeral cars had filed in and the mourners stood shoulder to shoulder as the pall bearers slowly removed the plain gray coffin from the hearse. A slight drizzle in the air, following a brief early morning shower made the weather more depressing and sadder than the funeral taking place. It was a small turn-out of fifteen people including the funeral directors, partly due to the bad weather, mostly because no one actually knew the deceased. But it was finally over for Maria Baker, Harvey and Bruce's older sister…or was it?
