Alright. First off he sounds great. You sound really into this guy. Go for him. He could be promising. Even if you two do break up you might can still be friends. I understand what you mean when you said you don't want to be seen as the baseball groupie. I don't think you are at this point. And the only way you will be considered a slu.t. is if you slept around with multiple guys. You haven't so you don't have to worry about that part. If you hear rumors disregard them.
