Is it true that those that are saved and will ascend to heaven is already predetermined by God?

That verse basically says that before the foundation of the world, we were predestined to become heirs with Christ. I'm not a Bible scholar or anything like that, but i do beleive in predestination. I'm not sure if everyone was predestined, but used their free will choosing God or not or what.
